Laurence & Monique Steijger - Derbyshire
12-04-2015
When the Steijger’s first built their eco house in 2001 they wanted to create a new type of home in the UK that would be as environmentally friendly as possible. This ethos was used throughout, from the materials and construction methods used, to the resources that would power their home. After installing one of the first solar tile systems in the UK at the time of building the house, Laurence and Monique were looking to supplement the original system with an additional system. Looking to maintain the aesthetical appearance of the system they chose the System Photonics solar tiles which integrated seamlessly into the roof with the existing system. The Steigers can now meet most of their annual electricity demand through solar PV with around 3,500 kWh of the 4,000 kWh annual electricity demand generated from the two systems. Ultimately Laurence and Monique would like to be carbon neutral and with the additional system they can now cover more of their heat pumps electricity demand, generating greener heating as well as electricity.Visit the EvoEnergy website for more information on Laurence & Monique Steijger - Derbyshire
