Testimonial From June 2009 Edition Of Motor Boats Monthly.

"Upon return from holiday I found that my boat had been broken into during my absence and the VHF radio had been stolen. The thief had also unsuccessfully attempted to remove the GPS plotter, but had damaged the surround in his attempt. Attempts were also made to steal the radar by removing roof panels and cutting the cables. I emailed by insurers GJW Direct but took no further action because I had a £250 policy excess and a 15% no-claims discount, which I would lose. Two weeks later I received a telephone call from my insurer wishing to know why I had not returned my claim form. When I explained that I wouldn’t be proceeding as the claim was marginal given my excess and the loss of my no-claims, I was told that I had a protected no-claims bonus and that as the theft occurred at my home berth I wouldn’t suffer the excess and should proceed with my claim. You can imagine my delight at this information, which I would have known if I had read my policy’s small print. Two days following receipt of my claim, I had a letter of approval meeting my costs in full. What a refreshing change to find an honourable company with such a common sense approach."
